Test Bores A Thing Of The Past...
Test bores and guesswork have become a thing of the past thanks to a new innovative technology now available in New Zealand.
Using seismic waves to locate underground water and determine the porosity of the material it is contained in can be assessed without having to sink a test bore.
Aquamap NZ Ltd says the reaction to the system has been extremely positive.
“Because it takes the guesswork out of finding water, people can see that they will save huge amounts of money. This means it is now possible to plan for future land development based on scientific survey results.”
For Councils:
The information produced by the system is very accurate; thereby opening the door to organisations such as Councils who are responsible for public funding.
“Organisations that have to be accountable for their spending are very interested when they find a system that will allow them to save thousands of dollars. As a result we believe councils will certainly become some of our main clients.”
For Individuals and Farmers:
Aquamap NZ Ltd expect individuals will also benefit from the technology for the same reasons.
“The fact that it works so well will ensure a very solid uptake amongst farmers who now have real options when it comes to knowing where to drill and how deep”
It has been found that farmers are now using the system to ascertain what is happening to their current wells, and in many cases are discovering that their wells would benefit from being deeper or are in the wrong place.
When farmers see the high quality data produced they are able to make reasoned and intelligent decisions.
“What this does is substantially reduce the doubt and risk of drilling wells. Farmers and others can see exactly how deep the water is and how likely it is that the water can be extracted. It totally eliminates any doubt about whether drilling deeper will produce more water below where you first strike it.”
